Daddy and Sefora’s journey
Our first time in America

On 24 September 2026, my daughter Sefora and I left Zurich Airport for Vancouver.
This time, though, it was no ordinary trip. It was our first time in America, for both of us, and after Vancouver our first cruise was waiting for us too. Two completely new experiences, all in one journey.
For me, what mattered most was sharing it with my daughter. We did not yet know exactly what those days would bring, and that was part of what made it all so special.

Nine hours behind
One of the things that struck us most was the time difference. Vancouver is nine hours behind Switzerland.
We knew that, of course, but experiencing it felt different. We left Europe, flew for hours and hours, and when we looked at the clock, it almost seemed as though we were travelling back in time. It was as if that day would never end.
We had never travelled across such a big time difference before. It was more than just a number on the phone: we felt it in our heads, in our bodies, and in the slightly strange feeling of suddenly being so far from home.

Finally in Vancouver
When we arrived, we were tired, but we knew we really were on the other side of the world. Vancouver was only the beginning: the next day we were going out to see the orcas, and soon afterwards we would be taking our first cruise.
It was raining that evening. Even looking for the hotel, with our suitcases and tiredness weighing on us, became part of our first memory of Vancouver.
At that moment, we could not yet know what places, people and flavours we would discover. We only knew that the journey had finally begun and that we were sharing it: Daddy and Sefora.
